The schedule will be roughly as follows but is subject to change(sessions may be longer or shorter as deemed necessary by participants, and who knows what else might happen). But start and end times are fixed. Please note that we’re doing something a little different from other THATCamps (ok, a few things different), but particularly, we’re going to have a fun multimedia event complete with wine and beer on Saturday evening, so please be sure to return after dinner for that–you won’t want to miss it!

Food
Pastries, bagels, and COFFEE on Sat and Sun will be provided, as well as Lunch on Sat and snacks through the day on Sun (no lunch on Sun). You’re on your own for dinner on Saturday, but we are within walking distance of many great restaurants (it’s San Francisco!), including the Ferry Building, which has lots of great places to eat. There will be a whiteboard or a technical equivalent available for people to post Birds of a Feather dinner groups if you want to connect or continue with particular conversations.
Location
THATCamp Bay Area will be at the Automattic Lounge on Pier 38 in San Francisco. Please note that THIS IS NOT anywhere near Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf (Odd number piers are north of the Ferry Building, even numbers are south).

Parking
There’s 2hr metered street parking on Embarcadero and in the neighborhood, but the best bet if you’re driving will be one of the parking lots a few blocks away. We’ve marked them on the map above, and when I drove around yesterday, they seemed to all be about $10/day, though I didn’t check when you need to be out by. I’m guessing the lots near on Stanford St. off Townsend near 2nd Street are the best bets, as the lot on the Embarcadero/Brannan is likely to be busy for Fleet Week events on Pier 30/32.
Public Transportation
The Automattic Lounge is VERY accessible by public transportation. In fact, you can literally get within a few blocks via Muni Train, antique F line trolley car, bus, cable car, BART train, Caltrain, ferry, jetski, chartered boat, or kayak. Seriously. It’s probably a 10 minute walk from either the Embarcadero BART station to the north, or the Caltrain depot at King Street, to the south.
Taxis
Of course, you can always call a cab.
Lodging
We won’t have any special rates at any hotels, but there are plenty of beautiful places to stay in the city, from ashy to classy, depending on your budget.
Car and Couch Sharing
We’ll be sure to put up a ride board and room sharing board where people can list where they’re coming from and if they have extra room, or if they have any guest bedroom, couch, or floor space to offer.
